SENIORS FINAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE WIRE

First up, apologies for the lack of reports on the seniors season, maybe one day more info will flow my way and I will get a chance to update on a more regular basis. Thanks though to Alex Young who tries to give me as much info as possible and it was Alex that informed me we now have a new Seniors Champion in the shape of Ian Macdonald.  Ian has had a fantastic 2011 season, being beaten finalist in the main SBA district Triples whilst also winning the Seniors ELBA K.O. pairs with Bob Bain. One of his tougher tasks though was when he played Brian Miller in the final and the way Brian has been playing himself this season, it was always going to be too close to call.  And so it proved as the final went right down to the wire as Ian managed to edge his nose in front at the most crucial of times to win 21-20 and lift the Seniors singles trophy for the first time.

FOURS REACH SBA FINAL

The seniorsFours rink of Alex Young, Harry Hastie, Mike Morrison & Jimmy Porter, having defeated our very own Phil Rae, Bobby Bell, Kenny Dixon, Jimmy Martin in the Quarter Finals, went one better as they got the better of the Tanfield Senior Fours.  The lads were peels going in to the last end and managed to secure a double to take them to the SBA FINAL where I believe they will face Craigentinny for the honour of going through to Ayr later in the year. WELL DONE GENTS AND ALL THE VERY BEST OF LUCK IN THE FINAL.

Northern 7 Dudley 2

Northern went in to week Two sitting second top of the league but faced league leaders Dudley, who had got off to the perfect start with a 9-0 win in their first game. In a very tight encounter, it was the Northern who came out on top with both home rinks recording victories, helped by a MAXIMUM COUNT OF EIGHT by Bob Bell's rink against Colin Barr, whilst Ian MacDonald got home by a single shot.  At Dudley things were even closer as Phil won by 2 shots whilst Alex Young went down by the narrowest of margins in a single shot defeat, but another 7-2 gives the Northern a fantastic start to the season.
