A busy week lies ahead on the bowling front. Sunday sees the annual MIXED PAIRS, a tournament which has grown since it was first introduced a few years ago. Current holders Lesley & Mike Burns will be there again trying to defend their title and for the first time, we have three visiting pairs from DEAN coming along.
Monday is the semi-final of the Club Championship whilst on Tuesday the Northern face up to West End in the Top Ten. The 2nd XVI have re-arranged their washed out league game against Dean for Wednesday at the Northern, whilst Thursday is the day the First XVI play their game at the Dean. Friday is the BIG day of the season as the Chanpionship FINAL will be held to see who goes off with the main prize for the 2010 season.

Stan Christie was down the club recently, modelling the new NORTHERN JACKETS. They are based on the same design as the club polo tops and are ideal for lightwear usage. These are not compulsory to buy but look very smart and reasonably priced at £35. Stan is currently taking names of those who are interested.

Our first ever Ladies Invitation Pairs Competition has had to be moved back a week due to the fact it clashes with other events. The Ladies Invitation Pairs will now be held on Sunday September 12th and invitation will be re-sent to the relevant club and people.

Following the decision taken at this year's AGM regarding club dress code when representing the club, a list is now up on the board for everyone to order their new CLUB POLO SHIRTS. Whilst these will be predominantly white, the final design has yet to be decided by our committee but the wearing of CLUB POLO SHIRTS will be a REQUIREMENT during the coming season, meaning White Shirt and club tie is considered no longer suitable.

The 2010 Annual General Meeting was held in the clubrooms on Monday 8th March at 7.00pm. Possibly the biggest news coming from the meeting was the agreement from those attending that the club should proceed with a LADIES SECTION in an effort to bring our club into the 21st century and make it an even more welcoming club for all. It was also decided that club shall now have Polo shirts with club crest as our 'Official' club attire for all representative games, including league matches and you will be able to order these in time for the new season by contacting Stan Christie or another memeber of the new committee.
On that subject, due to a few past committee members standing down from their positions, most noteably Bob Bain and Roy Campbell, we now have a new SECRETARY in the shape of Alex Young and Matches Secretary in Allan Mitchell. They will be joined on the General Management Committee by Willie Robb, Jim McKenna and Bob Lee. We also have a completely new SELECTION Committee and the three mugs, sorry members are Gordon Wilson, Hugh Hilson and Mike Burns, who will have a hard task in matching the successes of the previous committee but will be giving it their best shot I'm sure.
